Young local stars to shine at our Summer concert, May 29th

We're delighted to announce details of our upcoming Summer concert. It will be the culmination of a busy year which saw the choir welcome the people of Naas to an open rehearsal as part of Culture Night, sell-out our massively popular Christmas CD, raise €9,800 for Friends of Naas Hospital, and compete in the New Ross Choral Festival. We were also delighted to welcome half a dozen new voices this year, after the open auditions in September, they have had a very busy year!

The Summer concert will take place in St David's Church, Main St, Naas at 8pm on Sunday 29th May, 2016 and music-lovers of all ages are welcome to a program offering everything from well-known classical arrangements, to brand new or rarely performed pieces. As a nod towards the centenary 1916 celebrations, the concert will also include glorious new arrangements of some old Irish favourites, such as Down by the Sally Gardens, and a small number of popular Irish language songs.

At the Nás na Rí Singers we always try to collaborate with local musicians to provide as many and as varied platforms as we can for local talent. Recently we have sung with such stars as Celine Byrne, Norah King and the mini-stars of the school choir of Scoil Bhríde. This year we are happy to welcome two up and coming local musicians as our guest soloists on the evening. Local Baritone Peter Manning is already carving out a wonderful solo career, both in recital and performance while young Naas harpist Ruth O'Hara is causing quite a stir even though she is still at school, in St Mary's College, Naas!  They and our own soloists from the choir are sure to add hugely to the celebration.

Tickets for this highly anticipated annual event will be available at Barker and Jones Bookstore, Poplar Square, Naas and from members of the choir. Priced at €15, tickets are sure to be snapped up for the ever-popular intimate venue of St David's Church. For further details and to find out about joining Nás na Rí Singers, check the website regularly during the summer break.
