As a continuation of the Brigid 1500 celebrations, our “Of Earth and Heaven” concert took place on Sunday, May 26th at 4 PM in St. Brigid’s Parish Catholic Church, Kildare Town. Thank you to all who attended!
Embracing the beauty and connection between Heaven and Earth, the concert featured works by Eric Whitacre, Sir Hugh Stevenson Roberton and Scenes from The Bavarian Highlands Op27 by Edward Elgar. Most excitingly the concert also featured the world premiere of Legend and Brigid. These pieces were specifically commissioned for the Nás Na Rí Singers and were composed by Conor O’Reilly from the beautiful lyrics written by Jane Clarke. Mezzo-soprano, Norah King, and the Scoil Bhríde (Naas) children’s choir joined us for the concert to perform this new work.
The concert was hosted, not only in celebration of St. Brigid, but also in support of Teach Tearmainn, a domestic abuse support service for women and children across County Kildare. A portion of the profit from our ticket sales was donated to Teach Tearmainn.
