On Saturday 22nd February 2014, Nas na Ri Singers welcomed the St David’s Cathedral Singers from Wales to their hometown of Naas.  The Cathedral Singers are based in St David’s, Pembrokeshire, which has been twinned with Naas since 1993, and had approached the Nas na Ri Singers with a view to a joint concert back in September.

The concert took place in the historic St David’s Church, and was attended by the Deputy Mayor, Ger Dunne, members of the twinning committee and other invited guests.  The concert included songs from both choirs, and a set of Welsh and Irish songs sung by both choirs.  Rev. Philip Heak acted as MC and local historian Paddy Behan gave a presentation on the shared history of the two towns.

The evening concluded with a reception for the visiting choir at which chairperson Edel Fitzmaurice made a presentation to the Musical director, Simon Pearce, and Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Reverend Jonathan Lean.  We hope it will prove to be the beginning of a long friendship!
