The members of Nás na Rí Singers were delighted to present a cheque for the sum of €9,550 in total to the committee of The Friends of Naas Hospital recently.
This represents the very last step of a journey which began in September 2014, when the notion of creating a lasting legacy, both musically and charitably, was first suggested by Musical Director, Aine Mulvey. The recording took place over a long, exhausting and exhilarating weekend in January 2015. The choir of Scoil Bhríde, Sallins Road, Naas were pleased to learn several new pieces of music and performed beautifully as our guest act. The choir was also supported by the wonderful talents of Mezzo-Soprano Gemma Ní Bhriain, pianist Annalisa Monticelli, oboe Conor Kavanagh and violinist Jane Hackett. The resulting disc was truly even more than the sum of its very substantial parts.
A huge thank you is now due to all our friends and helpers, and I hope you will excuse me if I list them below:
Kildare County Council and Kildare County Council Arts Service
Barker and Jones bookshop, Naas
Farrell and Nephew bookshop, Newbridge
The Whitewater Shopping Centre
Ballymore Eustace GAA
The National Stud
Naas Country Market
Naas Rugby club
The Moat Club
Kilgannon's pharmacies, Naas
Parish Centres, coffee shops, individuals, and friends all over Kildare and Wicklow, too many to mention, but all greatly appreciated , and of course, the committee of Friends of Naas Hospital.
We look forward to the official opening of the healing garden in the grounds of Naas Hospital, for which our donation provided the seed-capital!!
