Nás na Rí Singers raise €4,000 for The Moat Club .

For over forty years, the Nás na Rí Singers have contributed to the cultural life of Kildare, performing top class choral music to a dedicated and expanding audience.  Singers are drawn from Kildare, Wicklow and Dublin, with several international members, and welcomes aspiring singers to auditions every August. The music loving population of Naas and surroundings look forward to each season’s concerts, but fewer people realise that the choir contributes to local society in a more tangible, financial sense. Over the past five years alone, the choir has raised almost €20,000 for local charities.  Recent recipients have included St Vincent de Paul, HOPE(d), the restoration fund of The Church of Our Lady and St David, Scoil Bhríde and the Friends of Naas Hospital.
Last year’s charity project, two sold-out Gala Christmas Concerts raised four thousand euro for the wonderful work of the Moat Club and for the renovation and upgrading of the theatre facility. Chairperson of the Nás na Rí Singers, Mary Clarke, was delighted to present a cheque for €4,000 to Hugh Gallagher of the Moat Club on Thursday 9th February. We wish our charity partner 2016 well, as they advance their ambitious plans to see the Moat Club strengthen its position as one of Kildare’s most valued venues.

After a brief pause to draw breath, Nás na Rí has recommenced rehearsals to prepare a packed schedule, including a collaboration with The Baldonnel Singers, participation in the Cork Choral Festival, and their annual Summer concert.

This year’s next highly anticipated concert at 8pm on March 25th in the Church of Our Lady and St David, in a Gala with the Baldonnel Singers and tenor Paul Linehan will be, as always, a night to remember. The Nás na Rí Singers are delighted to have been invited to support their 2017 Charity Partners, McAuley House, and hope to raise many thousands of euro towards the further enhancement of this wonderful vibrant community in the heart of Naas. Tickets for this wonderful evening of choral music are available from McAuley House, price €20.
